Japanese Culture 101: Jinbei

When we first arrived in Japan I bought some secondhand clothes for Eisley. In that bag was a Jinbei set (pronounced like "jean-beh").
Eisley's first Jinbei
Jinbei are a traditional Japanese clothing that is worn in the summer. They are made of lightweight breathable fabric and come in many colorful patterns. Jinbei are traditionally worn as pajamas or for around the house, but are sometimes worn when leaving the house but staying nearby (quick errands, going to collect mail, etc.). They may also be worn for local festivals in the summer. Japanese summers are hot, humid, and slightly miserable at times, and many Japanese residences don't have central heating/cooling. It looks so comfortable, I almost wish I had one for myself!

Typical Sasebo summer weather...hot at humid!
